César Prieto is one of the great talents of recent years coming out of the Cuban National Series. The Cienfuegos was champion in the 2019-2020 season with the Matanzas Crocodiles and before that he played the Final in 2018-2019 with the Villa Clara Leopards led by Eduardo Paret.
Prieto escaped from the Cuban delegation during the Americas Qualifiers on May 26, 2021. Just before arriving at the hotel, upon getting off the team bus, the Cuban player walked towards a waiting car and did not participate in the tournament. .
