Cuban Former Major Leager Signs with Venezuelan Club

This Sunday, April 3, the team of the Caciques de Distrito of the Liga Mayor de Béisbol Profesional de Venezuela (Venezuelan Professional Major League Baseball) announced in its twitter profile that Cuban former major leaguer Adonis García will be one of the four foreign players on the club for the upcoming 2022 Summer Season, whose pre-season will start on May 1.

“Adonis returns to Venezuela to be a Cacique! The Cuban returns to our country to wear our uniform for the upcoming LMBP campaign. García has played nine seasons in the LVBP and his numbers were: AB: 33 R: 3 H: 10 HR: 1 AVG: .303. Welcome!” said the message in the aforementioned social page.

According to a report by the web site ElEmergente.com, the Ciego de Ávila native who played three MLB seasons with the Atlanta Braves from 2015 to 2017, had recently announced his intentions to play with the Caciques, one of the expansion teams of the LVBP 2022 summer season. He has kept his word.

This time, the Cuban will share his locker room with the Venezuelan members of the team and the imported Eduardo López (pitcher from Colombia), fellos Cuban Yosmany Guerra and another foreign player to be determined.

Adonis played eight seasons with the Navegantes de Magallanes in the LVBP, with a .314 average, 31 homers and 177 runs batted in. Then, with the Bravos de Margarita in 2021, he hit .303 with a homer and six driven in.
