Official Release: FCB Will Demand 10MM from Yariel Rodríguez

The Cuban Baseball Federation intends to receive money from the pitcher after he left Cuba

OFFICIAL RELEASE

The Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB, for its Spanish acronyms) informs that pitcher Yariel Rodríguez Yordi decided not to join the Chunichi Dragons franchise, belonging to the Nippon Professional Baseball, with which he has a work contract in force.

The fact constitutes a serious breach of the agreement for the period 2023-2024 between Dragons, the athlete and our Federation, which acts as his representative in the agreement.

We consider that the decision contradicts the efforts made for Yariel Rodríguez to develop in a high-level circuit such as the Japanese one, and from there to support the Cuban national team.

Under the terms of the aforementioned agreement, we make public that “the athlete acknowledges and accepts that the fulfillment of this contract begins from the moment he leaves Cuba for Japan and ends upon his return to Cuba. He also accepts that in case of breach of contract on his part without just cause, at the discretion of the Federation, he may not signed by any other club or third parties without the express authorization of the Federation…”.

This segment of the document adds that in case of abandonment, such as that of Yariel Rodríguez, the FCB will require the sum of 10 million dollars in damages.

By the letter of that agreement we will demand rights and responsibilities.
