The Cuban Baseball National Commission (CNB for its Spanish acronyms) announced this Wednesday the names of the teams that will star in the First Elite League of Cuban Baseball.
Since this is a topic that many have been keeping an eye on, Swing Completo reproduces it in its entirety.
INFORMATION FROM THE FCB
As a result of the popular vote organized through the site www.beisbolcubano.cu and the mobile application La Pelota, to determine the names of the teams that will star in the I Cuban Baseball Elite League, we inform that:
. The names of Tabacaleros (Pinar del Río-Artemisa-Isla de la Juventud), Centrales (Matanzas-Cienfuegos-Villa Clara), Ganaderos (Sancti Spíritus-Ciego de Ávila-Camagüey) and Cafetaleros (Holguín-Santiago de Cuba-Guantánamo) were endorsed, in all cases with more than 50 percent of the votes cast.
. Habaneros (Mayabeque-Industriales) and Mineros (Las Tunas-Granma) did not get more than 50 percent of the votes and were therefore discarded.
. Among the many proposals contributed by those who voted against the latter, Portuarios (Mayabeque-Industriales) and Agricultores (Las Tunas-Granma) were decided upon.
. We thank all those who responded to our call, including those who contributed to define the structure of the event, which also emerged from a previously organized popular consultation.
. We remind that the I Cuban Baseball Elite League, considered key within the new development strategy of our sport, will have its qualifying phase from October 8 to December 11, 2022. The semifinals are scheduled from December 17 to 27 and the final from January 7 to 17, 2023.
. The first four places will qualify for the semifinals on the basis of 1st vs. 4th and 2nd vs. 3rd. The winners will play for the championship. Both phases will be best-of-seven series.
